We got a pass to the zoo after Lainey learned every animal in her books with animal pictures, and man was that the best investment ever! We have seen so many cool things at the zoo! We have seen the tiger swimming in his river, spent lots of time watching the gorillas, saw the Grizzly Bears swimming and playing, just to name a few. Elephant cut outs that Lainey wants nothing to do with!

We had a very nice Easter just hanging out at home. Lainey loved the plastic eggs packed full of puffs and freeze dried fruit. We were also amazed at how long Lainey wore the bunny ears! After the Easter eggs I planted a ton of seeds and am hoping I can actually get some

This past Wednesday it was absolutely gorgeous! Lainey and I brought Jason some lunch and we had a picnic at the country club. We had a nice lunch together and Lainey loved being outside! I think Lainey and I are going to have to make this a weekly thing! Isn't she cute in her hat!

8 Months is Tough!

Sorry I have been so bad about updating the blog, but 8 months has been rough on all of us! Lainey got her first tooth, just after she turned 8 months...this made for a lot of scream filled nights, an unhappy baby and some worn out parents! While she was teething she also had an awful cough and runny nose, which didn't make matters any better. Then right after her tooth came in she got a fever, the doctor said it was just a virus, but poor Lainey she was just so uncomfortable! I think things are good for now, at least until another tooth begins to appear. In the happier news, Lainey is just about ready to crawl, she will get up on all fours but just doesn't know what to do and decides she would rather roll. She is feeding herself (not with a spoon) and she has been sleeping 10-12 hours a night without waking up! She will give high fives and she has long conversations with the cats. Her new favorite toys are serving spoons and metal bowls, or plastic tupperware, this can entertain her for quite some time! It has been so awesome watching her grow up and learn new things!

The latest stats on Lainey are: 27 3/4 inches long and 17 lbs 14 oz. Feeding herself is always an adventure!

Lainey got her first tooth this month. The poor little one was so miserable! We had many sleepless nights until the tooth finally popped through. I friend suggested that you give her a pickle to suck on, and who would have guessed, SHE LOVED IT! It didn't totally get rid of the screaming and unhappiness, but at least now we know she likes pickles! (Sorry about the noise in the background, Jason is watching a KU game, of course!)

Our first stop on our Christmas trip was at my parents house. My brother, his wife and their two children came down from Wisconsin and stayed there. It was so wonderful to meet Addison, what a quiet little sweetheart! Ethan was hilarious, and so sweet! My brother Andrew hosted a dinner at his house, full of wonderful food. Everyone had such a nice time there! It was a nice time at my parents, except for Jason getting sick! The Christmas tree gave us a free babysitter for many hours! She loved looking at all of the lights and ornaments. She also loved eating all of the wrapping paper, even if it was still on the presents!

Lainey is definitely a food lover! The only food that she hasn't loved is zucchini, but I didn't think it tasted that good either, so I don't blame her. It seems to be a tradition since Jason and I have moved to Colorado that my parents come to visit us for Thanksgiving. What a nice tradition! We had a wonderful time with my parents and they loved hanging out with Lainey. We are very lucky to have such wonderful family members!

Growing up we had the best kids dog (Julie) and I have always hoped that we would have a dog like that for our children. I can't believe 3 months have already passed since Lainey came into our lives! There hasn't been a day that has gone by that either Jason or I haven't said to each other how much we love her, that "She is the best thing that has ever happened to us," or that "We have the most wonderful daughter in the whole world!" We measured Lainey on the 3rd and she was 13lbs 13 oz and 24 1/4 inches long. Yesterday we put on her sun hat and realized that her giant noggin no longer fits in the hat, so yes, she is growing like crazy! She is such a character (as you can see in the videos!), she loves to chatter with her toys, especially Mr. Sun, and just begun to roll to her side from her back. The drooling has also started, so now all of her shirts are soaked with spit! She has also learned that everything should be put in her mouth, no matter what it is, and has been grabbing toys and shoving them in her mouth every chance she gets. Each morning she greets us with giant smiles and lots of talking, so we hope that never goes away! What a wonderful baby girl we have!

Kansas City for Labor Day Weekend

We decided to head to Kansas City for Labor Day weekend because Jason's dad hasn't been able to see Lainey yet. We had a wonderful time hanging out with family and I got to see my best friend Diane. We didn't really do much, other than hang out with family and eat at my favorite Mexican Restaurant! We did have to endure a power outage the night before we left (the videos above), but it was kind of nice to sit outside under the stars with his family and listen to all of the wildlife...I mean bugs!

2 Month Check Up

Lainey went to her first doctors appt. Lainey is in the 75th percentile for height, weight and head circumference, and she is one growing girl! She weighed 11lbs 10 oz, and was 23 inches long. When they measured her she didn't take off the diaper, so she is really more like 24.5 inches long, when she is all naked! The doctors also told us that she is doing things a 4 month old does, such as holding her head up, pushing up her upper body and attempting to pull herself...so watch out world here come Lainey! We have decided to put Lainey on an alternate shot schedule, because we truly don't believe a baby her age needs 6 different shots at their first appt. She got 1 shot and a dose by mouth. She was a real trooper and only cried for a few seconds.

Lainey Rolls Over

While we were visiting Jason's family we realized Lainey can now roll over. We finally got it on tape. I know it is a long video, but I didn't want to cut it up too much because she makes some cute cooing noises at the beginning. (I swear I will learn to edit videos soon!)

Jason Hikes Pikes Peak

Colorado Springs...early morning...I left for the top of Pikes Peak, 14,110 feet at 4:15 in the morning. The sun coming up on a Sunday morning, August 23 was amazing.

Looks really far off, huh? Thats cause it was...13 miles one way...still got about 10 miles in this picture...only about an hour and a half into the hike here!

Already hurting...about an hour away from Barr Camp and 10,500 feet...this was one of the hardest hikes I have ever done...little did I know here that the real pain was yet to come.

I had to take a picture of Cheyenne Mountain from up there...this picture was probably around 11,000 feet...the shady mountain in the back is Cheyenne Mountain...I work at the base of that mountain...it is also where the infamous NORAD resides.

This is where the bouldering started and my pace really started to slow down...This is after A-frame which is at 11, 500 feet(Basically a forest service fire lookout). It took me 2 and a half hours to get to Barr Camp(6.5 miles) and almost another four hours to cover the last 6.5 miles.

The top didn't look the same when you were on the mountain...still got about 3.5 miles and 2,000 feet left to go.

Yes, I wore my ipod...it really kept me going once we got above 12, 500...the air up there was kicking my ass.

We went with a group of 13...all co-workers...Fran, her husband and Lynda...does this give you any idea of the incline on this damn trail...probably at about a 35-45 percent incline here.

Out of the 13, I was the fourth to the top in 6 hours and 20 minutes...The pictures don't do it any justice...Just got done hiking the worst mile of my life...so brutal that last hour and a half!

We were all in the first group...can you tell we were tired...we hunkered down and took in the sun and thin air while waiting for the rest of the group.

Frannie and I...she is one of my boss' at the Country Club of Colorado...I also helped her to a win in her second bodybuilding contest.

America the Beautiful...Purple mountain majesty is the line coined about the mountain that I stand atop.

The group...all Cheyenne Mountain employees and all members of the push-up club...100 a day baby!!! I think I can see Kansas from here...an inch on the horizon equals 38 miles. Such a gratifying experience.

Jason was in complete shock when Lainey was born because he just couldn't believe we had a girl. He has finally come out of the shock, and is sooo in love with his little girl! (Not that he wasn't in love from the very start, he was just very surprised!) Jason was also able to give Lainey a bottle about a week ago for the first time, and he thought that was the most amazing thing. How sweet!

Last Midwife Appt.

We had our last appointment with our midwife, Laura Luckett, so there are new stats for Lainey Jane. At 5 weeks, 5 days Lainey weighed 10 lbs 9.5 oz, was 23.25 inches long, and her head was 14.5 inches. So needless to say our little one is becoming more of a big one! Lainey decided to show off while at the appt. and was pushing herself up to standing and Laura was quite impressed. Laura said that Lainey is exceptionally strong, because she doesn't see many babies her age standing like she was.

As we were going into our midwife appt, Sara was coming out. Sara and her boyfriend Chris were in our Bradley classes with us, so we got to see their adorable little girl Violet. Violet and Lainey weighed exactly the same amount, but Violet is a week older.

The Hot Day

We don't have too many hot days here in Woodland Park, but we did have one. We got the little one mostly naked and let her hang out...check out that big milk belly!

Our Mornings

I have learned that if I don't get ready right away in the morning I will have gone through most of the day without brushing my hair or teeth. So in the morning I set Lainey on the bed and she just hangs out waiting for me to play with her. She looks so darn cute sitting or laying on the bed all by herself I had to attach some pics.

Cubs vs. Rockies

The Dellinger family attended their first baseball game. We went to the game with some of our college friends. It was ridiculously hot (of course our seats were in the blaring sun), so needless to say we spent most of the game by the concessions where there was a breeze and some shade. Then to top it off, the Cubs lost, bummer!

After the game we went over to Lindsay's apt. and hung out until we all decided we were starving and went out for dinner. Of course Lainey was fussy the entire time we were at Lindsay's!
